Sangoma to Acquire Paraxip
Technologies Q&A
Q. Who is Sangoma?
Sangoma Technologies Corporation is the
premium provider of PC-based hardware and software for
proprietary and open source data and telephony transport
solutions. The company develops and manufactures the most
scalable and reliable voice and Wide Area Network data cards
in the industry, including the award-winning Advanced
Flexible Telecommunications (AFT) product line. Founded in
1984, Sangoma Technologies Corporation is publicly traded on
the TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV: STC - News). Additional
information on Sangoma can be found at:
www.sangoma.com.
Q. Why are Sangoma and Paraxip joining
forces?
Sangoma and Paraxip are both Canadian
corporations developing and marketing telecommunication
products for developers, equipment vendors and managed
service providers. The companies have perfectly
complementary products, channels and customer base that can
be cross-leveraged. Sangoma has leading PC-based hardware
connectivity products and a strong foothold in the data
communications and Open Source telephony markets. Paraxip is
renowned for its patent-pending connectivity software
solutions and its channels and customers in the Contact
Center and Interactive Voice Response markets.
The combined company will have a complete
portfolio of connectivity hardware and software products for
both data and voice communications. Together, they will also
have access to a worldwide channel addressing a wide range
of markets including Open Source telephony, data
communications, Contact Centers, Interactive Voice Response
and Unified Communications.
Q.
Does Paraxip compete with IP-PBX or other application
vendors that use Sangoma hardware today?
No it
does not. In fact, IP-PBX, IVR and Contact Center vendors
are Paraxip's customers. The NetBorder software just
provides more integration choices for Sangoma's hardware.
The NetBorder software enables these applications by
providing robust media gateway and session controller
software. In the case of NetBorder gateway solutions, the
physical connectivity is provided by the Sangoma cards.
Q. How will Paraxip be structured after
the transaction?
Paraxip will be operated as a separate
subsidiary, wholly owned by Sangoma Technologies. Paraxip
will continue to be lead by its current management and
continue expanding its team, products and markets.
Q. What are the benefits for Paraxip?
The transaction provides many benefits to
Paraxip as an organization. Paraxip gains access to the red
hot Open Source telephony market, gains worldwide
distribution channels that complement its own, and gets
access to financial and human resources to drive its growth
plan going forward.
Q. Is the availability, pricing or
support of my current solution affected?
No. Current contracts, quotes and other
proposals will be honored. Paraxip continues to work with
its existing customers and channels and to fully support and
maintain its entire product line.
Q. How does the transaction affect
Paraxip’s future product plans?
Paraxip will continue to
develop innovative connectivity software products, including
its flagship product NetBorder™.
In the future, one should also expect to see more products
and features taking advantage of a tight integration between
Paraxip software and Sangoma hardware.
