About
Paraxip

Founded in 2003, Paraxip develops and markets connectivity
products that empower the deployment of IP Telephony in the
Contact Center and in the Enterprise. As opposed to its
competitors that offer hardware-based connectivity
appliances, Paraxip employs an innovative all-software
approach that leverages standard computing platforms. The
approach reduces deployment costs and allows IP Telephony
solutions in the enterprise to seamlessly extend their reach
to numerous external devices and networks.
Industry
Trends
The world of telecommunications is being transformed by
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and related technologies
such as the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). The adoption
of these protocols in enterprise and Contact Center
telephony platforms is driving the following market changes:
-
Move form vertical market to horizontal, which means more
choices for the consumer and thus lower costs due to
increased competition.
-
Move from hardware-centric to
software-centric model, which means a faster pace of
innovation and changes is now possible.
-
Move from voice
only to multiple media types, which means that richer media
connectivity is required.
Industry reports clearly show that
the vast majority enterprises and contact centers are either
already deployed with IP telephony or are in the
planning/implementation stage.
Market opportunity
Enterprise communication vendors are delivering SIP-based
enterprise platforms to meet the needs of their customers.
However, these platforms do not work in a standalone
fashion. They still need to interconnect to numerous
external devices and networks such as:
-
Legacy telephony
switches, PBX’s, ACD’s, etc.
-
Vast number of third party IP
connectivity endpoints (phones, IP-PBX, etc)
-
Different IP
network types: Public, Private, proprietary such as Skype
and others, secure or not, etc.
This platform interconnectivity problem is growing
exponentially given the market dynamics (move to a
software-driven, horizontal market with new players coming
in regularly). Enterprises in this sector will spend about
$1B solving this platform interconnectivity problem by 2011.
Enterprise communication vendors today either build these
interconnectivity capabilities or partner with connectivity
appliance vendors to solve their problem. Paraxip has
developed proprietary technology that disrupts the current
network integration paradigm both from a cost and ease of
use standpoint.
Technology and IP
Paraxip has developed proprietary, patent-pending software
technology to solve complex enterprise network
interconnection problems. The suite of products from Paraxip
departs from its competitors in its use of an all-software
approach, as opposed to an appliance model. The solution can
thus be integrated and deployed more cost effectively and
easily by OEM customers. The software approach also allows
for innovations that are just not possible in traditional
platforms.
Leadership Team
Paraxip was founded by former
employees of Nuance Communications and Nortel Networks, and
has attracted top technical and business talent from
companies such as Lucent, Intervoice, NMS Communications and
others. Paraxip’s board of directors is also composed of
industry leaders covering a wide spectrum of technology
markets.
Headquarters
Paraxip is located in Montreal, Canada. |
